Unexploitable Equilibrium Versus Deliberate Exploitation
The GTO/equilibrium school (mathematics_of_poker, modern_poker_theory, gto_poker_simplified, play_optimal, applications) holds that playing an unexploitable balanced strategy is the primary route to profit and guarantees you can't be beaten
The exploitative/old-school school (super_system 1&2, power_hold_em, excelling_at_live_poker, jonathan_little) holds that deliberately deviating from balance to attack specific opponent errors yields far more profit against real, imperfect players
What turns on it · This determines whether you invest study time in solver-derived balanced strategies or in reading opponents and maximally punishing their leaks, which shape completely different win rates in different games.
